Samaritan Inns’ Dinner Fellowship Program provides a great opportunity for small groups to connect with the residents of Samaritan Inns. Groups of no more than 5 individuals formed from businesses, law firms, churches, families, and friends have the opportunity not only to prepare and serve dinner, but also engage in community with our residents by sharing stories and fellowship over a delicious meal. The daily routine of sharing a meal and conversation is a vital part of the recovery process for the residents, so they truly benefit from your company.
Dinner Fellowship takes place every Saturday and Sunday from 3pm to approximately 6pm. This allows for enough time for a brief orientation and to prepare the meal as well as enjoy it.
Groups are responsible for providing and cooking the meals, while the Samaritan Inns' staff and residents are responsible for clean up. We have fully equipped kitchen facilities and a kitchen manager to assist and answer any questions you may have while you are here.

Every spring, summer and fall, Samaritan Inns opens its’ doors and properties to groups who wish to volunteer keeping our 8 properties clean, warm, and home-like for our residents. We carefully customize meaningful and well-structured activities for your group, which can range in size from just a few people to up to 30. Our hope is that as participants are impacting our organization with their work, they will also be forming relationships among themselves, our staff, and our residents.
Sample projects include: Painting walls or fences, gardening/planting, stripping and staining furniture, weeding, power washing walls, cleaning windows, polishing floors, etc.
For more information about open dates and to schedule your group, contact Jillian at (202) 667-8831, or jillian@samaritaninns.org.
If you have a special talent or area of expertise that you would like to share, we can work with you. Some of our volunteers give a few hours each week to answer the phones at the front desk. Others offer money management trainings and one-on-one support to the residents in our long-term housing program, and others provide yoga and art classes for our residents. The possibilities are varied and vast, and we would love to discuss how your gifts could be utilized to enhance the mission of Samaritan Inns.
Please contact Sheida at 202-667-8831, or sheida@samaritaninns.org if you would like to discuss how you can contribute.
